This system was developed to manage the photographic albums and images for this site. Whilst against re-inventing the wheel, it was easier and more interesting to build to personal specifications rather than to adapt a pre-existing package.
The application allows the secure upload of images from wherever there is internet access. After thoroughly checking file content, the image is re-sized and a thumbnail is produced. At this stage the title, keywords and description are inserted and the photo is added to an album. A similar system is used to add, edit or delete albums.
Once added to an album the images can be edited, moved or deleted. Also, if required, the images and the albums can be sequenced, although the default is to show the most recent first. There is also a geo-tagging feature to produce GoogleMaps.
